PALMA INTERNATIONAL BOAT SHOW

The Palma International Boat Show (PIBS) is a premier Mediterranean nautical event organized by the Government of the Balearic Islands and the Institute for Business Innovation (IDI). Held annually in Palma de Mallorca, it brings together professionals, enthusiasts, and global stakeholders to showcase innovation, craftsmanship, and trends in yachting and maritime technologies.

PIBS highlights the Balearic Islands’ leadership in the nautical industry, driving economic growth and fostering connections between international buyers and exhibitors. Committed to sustainability, the event promotes eco-friendly practices and raises awareness about preserving marine ecosystems, reinforcing the region’s reputation as a hub for innovation and responsible maritime excellence.

CAMBRA DE COMERÇ DE MALLORCA

The Cámara Oficial de Comercio, Industria, Servicios y Navegación de Mallorca, founded on 29th September 1886, is a Public Law Corporation, created with the aim of promoting the economic and business development of its demarcation through the provision of services to companies, fulfilling the public-administrative functions assigned by Law. This Corporation, managed by the companies themselves -representative of the different productive sectors of the island-, is configured as a consultative and collaborative body with the Public Administrations.

The Chamber defends the interests of all the companies on Mallorca, and its main lines of action are to support business competitiveness and to promote the internationalisation of our companies. All this, developing training programmes to favour the employment of young people, resolving disputes between companies through arbitration and mediation, promoting and supporting the creation of new companies, and carrying out projects in specific sectors and areas.

DG de Recerca, Innovació i Transformació Digital

The General Directorate of Research, Innovation, and Digital Transformation aims to promote scientific and technical research from an interdisciplinary perspective, utilizing new tools and models. It develops competencies for a digital transformation process and aims to promote an innovative vision of companies to successfully address the new and unstoppable digital paradigm. It plans and coordinates the innovation and technology system of the Balearic Islands, promoting cluster policies and fostering various research and innovation projects.

Within this general directorate, we find two services: the Innovation Service and the Research and Development Service.

The General Directorate of Research, Innovation, and Digital Transformation is organically dependent on the Autonomous Secretariat of Innovation and Digital Society, assimilated in rank to a management body of the Administration of the Autonomous Community of the Balearic Islands.

The Autonomous Secretary of Innovation and Digital Society is Antoni Carmona Damians.

PALMA SUPERYACHT VILLAGE

Palma Superyacht Village, previously known as the Palma Superyacht Show, is an integral part of the  Palma International Boat Show (PIBS), the opening event of the Mediterranean yachting season, taking place from the 25th to 28th of April 2024. It is one of the few industry-owned and operated yacht shows aimed to bring the visitor closer to yachting and offer any services a yacht owner might require, provided by trusted and well-established companies, in a relaxed but professional atmosphere.

Whereas PIBS is the hub for the latest shipyard presentations and services related to yachts under 24 m, Palma Superyacht Village displays a selection of superyachts above 24 m for sale and charter, as well as hosts an exhibition of nautical services available to superyachts. Within the dock-side exhibition there is also a separate area dedicated to Refit & Repair, representing the many specialist companies that make the Balearic Islands one of the world´s leading destinations for refit and maintenance of boats.

Because of this, our islands have the necessary infrastructure to carry out repair and maintenance work on both small and large boats. In fact in Palma alone, more than 1000 projects a year are carried out on boats over 24 m, according to the data collected by the Balearic Marine Cluster

The exhibition is located in the Moll Vell area in the heart of Palma de Mallorca, right in front of the majestuous, landmark cathedral of Palma and the bustling old town with its restaurants, outdoor cafes and quirky boutiques. With its laid back, uncomplicated and fun atmosphere, the Palma Superyacht Village is the perfect place to discover yachting.

Instituto de Innovación Empresarial de las Islas Baleares

Instituto de Innovación Empresarial de las Islas Baleares (IDI) is the Regional Development Agency of the Government of the Balearic Islands, and its main objective is to promote policies to support companies and entrepreneurs to favour economic and business development with criteria of competitiveness, sustainability, and territorial rebalancing.

Among its various functions is the economic promotion of companies, which is why it is the organizer of the Palma International Boat Show, one of the Mediterranean’s leading nautical fairs. With more than 270 exhibiting companies and 600 boats, the event is one of the most important events for the sector on an international level, and it opens the nautical season. The next edition, which will take place from 25th to 28th April, will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Palma International Boat Show.

FUNDACIÓN TURISMO PALMA 365

The Palma 365 Tourism Foundation is a non-profit public entity with a mixed or public-private management, in the field of tourism and external promotion, composed mainly by the Palma City Council, the Port Authority of the Balearic Islands, and 15 private companies, all of them renowned and/or leaders in the national and international tourism sector, with the aim of promoting and fostering tourism in the city of Palma and, where applicable, in the island of Mallorca.

Based on this, here are some of the activities that the Palma 365 Tourism Foundation carries out:

  • Enhancing the tourism, cultural, and heritage resources, both public and private, of the city of Palma, as well as the other municipalities of Mallorca.
  • Facilitating the participation and collaboration of all economic sectors and public services of the city of Palma in tourism management and external promotion.
  • Promoting activities aimed at increasing tourist and commercial demand in the city.
  • Planning, managing, promoting, and carrying out all activities that may benefit the improvement of the tourist offering of the destination.
  • Managing and promoting innovation and continuous improvement in the quality of tourist and non-tourist services of the destination, both public and private, as well as sustainable development.
  • Coordinating and harmonizing public and private initiatives related to tourism, as long as they are in line with established tourism policies.
  • Promoting the city of Palma as a destination in the tourist cruise markets and, consequently, the development of cruise traffic, as well as promoting and developing nautical tourism.

Autoridad Poartuaria de las Islas Baleares

The Balearic Port Authority (APB) is a public organisation that manages the general interest ports in Palma, Alcúdia, Maó, Eivissa and La Savina, and aims to guarantee maritime supply and connectivity throughout the Balearic Islands in the most efficient and secure manner. Likewise, it facilitates socio-economic initiatives that contribute to its growth, in line with economic and environmental sustainability criteria and integration with the surrounding area.

This mission is at the core of the APB’s strategy which is backed by a vision based on a series of values inherent to the organisation, such as a commitment to service, innovation and ongoing improvement, as well as transparency, collaboration and environmental, social and technological responsibility.

One of its strategic focal points that constitute its action plan is to facilitate port activities, encouraging sustainable growth associated with the tourism and industrial sectors at the port such as recreational boating, boat maintenance and repairs, and so forth.
